DANCKERTS Dancker

(Amsterdam 1634 – 1666)

Dutch engraver son of Anne Minne of Leiden and Cornelis Danckerts, member of a large dynasty of engravers, cartographers, print sellers and publishers in Amsterdam for several generations.
In addition to numerous maps, he dealt with scenes of peasant life and landscapes often with animal figures including subjects derived from drawings of Nicolas Berchem, a well-known Dutch painter and engraver of rustic scenes with animals.
His graphic works are present in numerous and prestigious museum, libraries and archive collections in various parts of the world.
